As a  goal, I decided I would write an analysis of football matches, the one I decided to write about was the Copa Del Rey final between rivals Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid.

This game meant so much to both teams, a win for Real would give Mourinho a very sought after trophy, after they had lost out on both Champions League, as well as the La Liga title. And a victory for Athletico would give them their first victory over Real in 14 long years.

It appeared that Mourinho’s Real Madrid hungered for the win more as Ronaldo powered home his 55th goal of the season from Ozil’s corner after out jumping Athletico’s defence. Still it appeared that the win meant more to Real, as Luka Modric was playing a very impressive shift in the heart of Real’s midfield.

However despite Real’s midfield running the show, it was Athletico who scored the next goal. Radamel Falcao, Athletico’s savior many times was once again the man they needed, this time however it was his expert pass straight into the feet of Brazilian Diego Costa, who converted expertly with his left foot passed the oncoming Diego Lopez. It appeared as if Mourinho’s men should have pulled in front again however the post denied them 3 times.

One too many fouls given against Real saw Mourinho get sent of the pitch, leaving the last 17 minutes of normal time to his second in command. No one managed to find a winner in normal time, which caused the game to go into extra time. It only took 8 minutes for the ball to end up in the net, Athletico found themselves infront after a wonderful cross by youngster Koke found the head of Miranda, who converted from close range.

Early into  the second half of Extra time, it appeared that Real had found a way through on goal, however the Chelsea keeper on loan at Athletico was on top form, flinging himself across goal, denying Ozil what appeared to be a simple tap in. It appeared as if this caused Ronaldo much frustration, as a few minutes later after a foul against him by Athletico captain Gabi, he lashed out his leg, catching Gabi in the nose. This saw Ronaldo a straight red card, sparking a minor fight between the two benches. Gabi himself would see himself get sent off due to a second yellow, however Real never found an equaliser. Giving Athletico a win against their bitter rivals after 14 years, in the best of ways.
